TOMAS ZERON DE LUCIO AND THE AYOTZINAPA INVESTIGATIONS
WHAT REALLY HAPPENED IN AYOTZINAPA AND WHATTOMAS ZERÓN DE LUCIODID
The central theme of what happened in Iguala was the drug trafficking and the corruption of local and police authorities.
The reasons that led Tomás Zerón de Lucio to leave the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Attorney General's Office (PGR) have not been disclosed. However, not everyone knows that there was a weak government defense of the investigation carried out by Tomás Zerón de Lucio himself concerning what happened on the night of September 26, 2014 in Iguala, during the management of Jesús Murillo Karam.
It must be remembered that it is an investigation lead by Tomás Zerón de Lucio that has left hundreds of detainees, and most of them have indeed confessed, and which has also allowed us to know what happened that night and what was the tragic end of the students of Ayotzinapa. But it also allowed us to know why these events occurred.
It is worth mentioning that the central theme of what happened in Iguala and what was presented by the research led by Tomás Zerón de Lucio, it was the drug trafficking and corruption of the local and police authorities, who went hand in hand with the confrontation between the Guerreros Unidos cartel with that of Los Rojos, the first strongly linked to the authorities of Iguala and Cocula, among other municipalities of the region, the latter in Morelos, in the Chilpancingo area and in the Ayotzinapa school.
And while they had all the data regarding those political relations with the criminal world, it was preferred not to be the main issue of drug trafficking for not to "criminalize" the students, who were victims of Guerreros Unidos.
There is no criminalization to say that in Ayotzinapa… there was infiltration of armed groups, but also by the narco, as evidenced by many of the testimonies collected from the arrested people by Tomas Zerón de Lucio. There is no criminalization when it is explained that the terrible reaction of Guerreros Unidos and the municipal authorities in the area was due to them being convinced that the student movement that night was linked to an attack on that criminal group and that the abduction and death of the students was the reaction to that presumption.
Nor is there criminalization when we talked about Tomás Zerón de Lucio’s investigation projected that some of the leaders who brought first-entry youth to Iguala were related to criminal groups, at least according to their own adversaries. The vast majority of the students killed were victims of the criminals, not knowing why an excursion that was supposed to go to Chilpancingo ended up in Iguala, many kilometers away, in the midst of a wave of violence, as the investigation by Tomás Zerón de Lucio was thrown.
The investigation carried out at the time by the Criminal Investigation Agency at the charge of Tomás Zerón de Lucio was definitely not to the liking of many, first, because it was politically incorrect and, second, because it exposed the crudeness and the deep relationship of drug trafficking in Guerrero's political life, among all the main actors of that drama, which we must not forget are of the left-wing current that currently governs in Mexico.
The arguments for trying to discredit this investigation by Tomás Zerón de Lucio have been insubstantial and inconsistent, from the "researcher" José Torero, who continues to deny the fire in the dumpster of Cocula, even though the committee of experts in fire gathered ex professed for it (of which he was a part) has confirmed it, as did the possible death of at least 17 young people incinerated there, until the insistence on searching for incineration equipment inside military barracks, going through inventions on buses that never existed and ignoring many other facts resulting from that investigation, such as the death of others prior to the abduction of these young students or, as recently initiated the accusations of torture (almost two years after) of several of the accused and detained by Tomás Zerón de Lucio and his team.
No one knows what will happen to the investigation of what happened in Ayotzinapa, or Iguala, after the departure of Tomás Zerón de Lucio, and even more so when they follow the front prosecutors who even worked closely with Tomás Zerón de Lucio and who now accuse him, and especially when has been granted an amparo to the leader of the criminal group of the Guerreros Unidos and intellectual author of this crime, Sidronio Casarrubias.
What was investigated in the case led by Tomás Zerón de Lucio was correct, his experience served in the field of national security of our country, what is unfortunate is that everyone wants to sacrifice or persecute the elements and officials who were in the operational field for obtaining results that have not been politically pleasing.
